Reefs for Tomorrow Expedition
100 miles. One mission: Protect the reefs that protect us and inspire the next generation of ocean stewards

We’re paddling 100 miles through the Florida Keys for the Reefs for Tomorrow Expedition, a mission by Coralated.org to protect the reefs that protect our coastlines, fisheries, and communities.

From April 30 to May 3, our team will paddle from Key Largo to Key West to raise awareness and funding for coral reefs that are rapidly declining due to warming oceans, pollution, and disease. Florida’s coral reefs have lost the majority of their living coral in just a few decades, putting marine life, coastal protection, and local livelihoods at risk.

This expedition is really about young women. A lot of girls grow up disconnected from the ocean and don’t get many chances to spend real time in healthy marine environments or see what thriving reefs actually look like. Without those experiences, it’s harder to feel connected to the natural world or build the curiosity and confidence that lead people to protect what they love.

The Reefs for Tomorrow Expedition exists to change that. Every young woman deserves the chance to spend time in the ocean, to witness thriving ecosystems, to feel strong and capable in blue spaces, and to understand that she belongs in ocean leadership and stewardship. When girls build relationships with the ocean early in life, they grow into informed advocates, scientists, educators, and protectors of our planet.

Funds raised will support Coralated’s education and outreach efforts, including the creation of educational materials, books, and digital resources, as well as community learning programs that bring ocean learning into classrooms, youth organizations, and communities. Through education, access, and empowerment, we’re helping build a future where more young women grow up connected to and inspired to protect our oceans.

Together, we can turn 100 miles of paddling into a future where reefs still have a chance to survive, and empower the women who will protect them tomorrow.
